On March 6, the Hodgenville Elementary School Beta Club bowled in a fundraiser for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, which serves Hardin and LaRue County. The money raised through Bowl for Kids’ Sake goes directly toward recruiting, enrolling and pairing volunteers with children needing them most.

Being a pro-active organization since 1904, Big Brothers/Big Sisters cultivate caring relationships with children before they become unreachable and they provide a positive source for filling the need youth have for belonging. Studies show Little Brothers and Sisters are:

•46 percent less likely to begin using illegal drugs;

•27 percent less likely to begin using alcohol;

•52 percent less likely to skip school;

•37 percent less likely to skip class;

•More confident in their schoolwork performance;

•Able to get along better with their families.
