The LaRue County Hawks made it five-in-a-row Wednesday with a 66-49 win over the Campbellsville High School Eagles.
LaRue was down by four points (12-16) at the end of the first quarter but scored 25 to the Eagles’ eight in the second quarter. Campbellsville wasn’t able to overcome the deficit.
Junior forward Caleb Sheffer scored 22 points and five others scored at least seven as the visiting Hawks took down their 5th Region foe.
Sheffer also had eight rebounds and two steals for LaRue County, which scored 25 points in the second quarter to turn a four-point deficit into a 37-24 lead at the half.
Junior guard Micah Wiseman scored 11, hitting one of four 3-point attempts, while senior forward Kody Key-Close had 10. Senior forward Tyler Howell chipped in with nine points, 11 rebounds and two steals.
Senior guard Thomas Harman had seven points and four assists, and freshman guard Cameron Dawson had seven points, three assists and two steals.
The Hawks fell Friday 70-51 to 18th District foe Green County.
The Dragons made more free throws (19-of-31) than the Hawks made field goals (15-of-43).
Dawson led the Hawks with 14 points and two assists. Howell scored eight points and had nine rebounds. Wiseman scored eight; sophomore guard Dalton Metcalf scored six.
