The LaRue County Hawks won one and lost one last week, dropping a Dec. 7 matchup with Breckinridge County 65-53 and defeating Hart County 52-47 on Dec. 10.
BRECKINRIDGE BOUNCES PAST HAWKS
After falling behind 30-21 at the half, the visiting Hawks (1-1) rallied to tie the game at 45 going to the fourth quarter. The Fighting Tigers, however, held LaRue County to eight points in the period en route to their third straight win.
Sophomore guard Kelton Ford paced the Hawks with 17 points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal, while junior guard Kyle Sheeran had 13 points, five assists and one steal.
Sheeran connected on three of 11 attempted 3-pointers; Ford hit three of seven attempted 3-pointers.
Senior guard Dylan Parr added eight points, four rebounds and one steal, and senior post Chase Reynolds had eight points and three rebounds.
LaRue County, which went 22-of-55 from the field, connected on just 30.4 percent (7-of-23) of its 3-pointers.
HART HANDED A LOSS
The Hawks led 18th District rivals Hart County 12-11 at the end of the first quarter but their 14-2 second quarter run took the momentum away from the Raiders.
Hart County outscored the Hawks 15-10 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.
Sheeran scored 13 points, had eight rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Hawks.
Kyle Meredith scored 10 points and had three steals. Ford chipped in seven points and hit one-of-five 3-point attempts. Ford also had four assists.
Jonathan Firquin scored six and had seven rebounds.
Ryan Whitlock (4), Chase Reynolds (3) and Gabe Shirley (2) rounded out the scoring.
Parr had three steals.
The Hawks host Caverna 7 p.m. Friday.
