Arson case ends in mistrial

The trial of a Hodgenville man charged with arson ended in mistrial last week.

Phillip Dale Despain, 31, was accused of causing a fire Dec. 30, 2007 that destroyed a Hawkins Road barn. He was indicted for the act by a LaRue County grand jury March 15. Circuit Judge Charles Simms III declared the mistrial after deciding that certain testimony was inadmissible in Despain’s case.
