Students and staff at Abraham Lincoln Elementary celebrated Red Ribbon Week Oct. 28 through Nov. 1 with a variety of drug awareness events.

On Monday, they kicked off the week with everyone donned in red and each student received instruction about healthy eating and making the right choices. As the week progressed, students dressed for Career Day and completed an online career survey. Wednesday was Crazy Hair or Crazy Hat Day and Diane Leathers from the LaRue County Health Department visited classrooms with good hygiene tips. Thursday brought Pajama Day with students being urged to follow their dreams. A visit from the public library made this day special. Friday was Spirit Day where students and staff wore their school shirts and said no to drugs. Several students from LaRue County High School visited classrooms as they discussed bullying and drug awareness.

Hinton’s Orchard donated apples; McDonald’s provided coupons.

Red Ribbon Week is a joint effort of Machelle Durham of the ALES Family Resource Office and ALES counselor Tina London.
