Second-grade students at Abraham Lincoln Elementary recently completed an artist- in -residency with fiber artist Pat Sturtzel. Students and community helpers experimented with fabric dyeing and repeating patterns as well as reinforcing the elements of art including line, shape, color, and texture. Each student created their own fabric tie-dyed pillow and also worked in groups to create quilt blocks of Abraham Lincoln’s life. The quilt blocks are being assembled by retired teacher Patsy Thomas as a wall hanging, which eventually will hang in the school.
