Childcare programs throughout the state, including LaRue County, have already begun to feel the effects of changes to the Childcare Assistance Program.
On January 30, the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Department for Community Based Services passed changes to CCAP to make up for an $86 million shortfall.
The change reduces the poverty level from 150 percent to 100 percent for those eligible for the program. About 20,000 children from low-income families will be ineligible for subsidized childcare.
