The City of Hodgenville issued a boil water advisory for all city residents and businesses after a water main broke on Sunday afternoon.

Dispatch began receiving calls from residents on South Lincoln Boulevard that gallons of water were pouring down the ditchline. When city crews arrived, they found the pressure of the leak had buckled the pavement several inches – and water was spewing from a hole.

Ronnie Cruse said they found a “baseball-size hole” in the 8-inch water main. Residents were advised to boil all water used for drinking and cooking. The advisory was lifted Monday afternoon.

LaRue, Hodgenville and Buffalo firefighters assisted with traffic control as city workers made repairs.

The workers just had finished making repairs to a smaller waterline break on Kirkpatrick Avenue when they learned of the main break.
