4-Hers recognized at banquet

Numerous 4-H members and volunteers were recognized at the annual 4-H awards banquet. 

The Outstanding 4-H Members for 2008 were named. The Junior Division includes 4-H members ages 9-13 and the Senior Division includes members ages 14-18.

Based on points earned for 4-H activities completed during the 2007-08 4-H year, Weston Heath was the 2008 Outstanding Senior 4-H Member. Based on the same point system, Meredith Heath was recognized as the 2008 Outstanding Junior Division 4-H Member. Past Outstanding 4-H Members, Michaela Rock and Stefan Cowley earned the most points again this year. By doing so, each earned the Bronze Level of the Outstanding 4-H Member Award. Delaina White received the Most Improved 4-H Member Award. She increased her points the most from last year to this year.

4-H Honors Awards were given to Weston Heath who earned the Bronze Award and Megan Mier earned the Silver Award.

4-H Point Awards were presented to all 4-H members who completed the Awards Recognition Form. Prizes such as hats and sweatshirts were presented for the different point categories.

Less than 200 Points: Madeline Poirier, Callie Beldien, Lucas Miller, Austin McCreery and Jordan Miller.

200-349 Points: Ashley Hornback, Rebecca Riggs, Leslie Pike, Amanda Adyani, John Marshall, Michael Lawless and Cody Howell.

350-499 Points: Tyler Howell and Ethan Napier.

500-749 Points: Sarah Lope, Darian White, Hallie Madriaga, Delaina White and Weston Heath.

750-1000 Points: Meredith Heath and Stefan Cowley.

1000-1499 Points: Michaela Rock.

The 4-H Record Book Awards were also presented at the Banquet.

Junior Foods: Michaela Rock-County Champion/Blue and District Champion/Blue, Hallie Madriaga-Blue, and Joseph Taul-Blue.

Junior Rabbit: Michaela Rock-County Champion/Blue and District Champion/Blue, and Joseph Taul-Blue.

Senior Rabbit: Stefan Cowley-County Champion/Blue.

Junior Photography: Michaela Rock-Champion/Blue and District Reserve Champion/Blue, and Meredith Heath- Blue.

Senior Photography: Weston Heath-County Champion/Blue.

Junior Horse: Katie Gardner-County Champion/Blue and District Red.

Senior Horse: Travis Florence-County Champion/Blue and District Red.

Cloverbud Dylan Taul received a participatory ribbon for completing Foods and Rabbit record books. Cloverbud Maddy Poirier received a participatory ribbon for completing the Photography record book.

New 4-H Points Record Forms are now available at the Extension Office. 4-H members should record their activities from Sept. 1, 2008 through Aug. 31, 2009.  Each fall, the completed record forms are due to the Extension Office by the end of September.

The 4-H Record Forms along with an essay are used to determine the recipient of the annual Stanley Hager 4-H Scholarship which is presented to a graduating high school senior each year.

Also, new for the 2008-09 4-H year, Cloverbuds will be able to submit records forms to be eligible for awards at the 4-H awards banquet.
