KY 222 remains closed over I65 due to a semi losing an oversized load on the bridge. The weight of the load is complicating efforts to remove it. Bridge engineers are on-site evaluating how to safely remove the oversized cargo. The bridge/road will remain closed for at least the next 4 hours.
Motorist wishing to travel across the bridge will have to either travel north or south on I65 to the nearest exit (Exit 91 for Northbound and Exit 81 for Southbound) and enter I65 toward their destination from that point.
KY 222 remains closed over I65 due to a semi losing an oversized load on the bridge. Bridge engineers have advised on-scene towing service operators of proper points along the bridge to place equipment to pick up the 60,000 pound wind generator that broke free from it’s trailer just before 8am this morning.
Two cranes are being used to upright the generator. It’s base will be stabilized and then it will be lifted onto a trailer for removal.
During the process, northbound I65 is being diverted to ensure nothing from atop the bridge falls onto traffic below. Northbound will be diverted off Exit 86 (Glendale), across KY 222 and right back onto I65. KY 222 will be closed at the US 31W intersection just east of the interchange during the process.
