It’s that time of year again! Time for LaRue County students to complete state testing requirements for the Unbridled Learning accountability system.
Each school will run its own testing schedule and the dates will vary by school. Students in grades 3-8 will complete K-PREP assessments Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 10. High school students completed Quality Core exams April 24-29 and will complete K-PREP writing assessments May 13-14. The K-PREP and Quality Core assessments are part of the Unbridled Learning state assessment system which replaced CATS in 2012.
How can you help students perform at their best? There are four simple steps you can take:
Attendance – Good attendance is important during this time period. However, if your student has to miss or check out of school, please be sure to notify the school in advance so we can plan a make-up test for your student.
Readiness – Make sure your student gets plenty of rest. Eating a good breakfast will also help students perform at their best.
Encouragement – Encourage your student to do his/her best every day of the assessments.
Volunteering – Some schools are still looking for volunteers to help with test preparations. If you would like to volunteer to help, please call your school.
If you would like more information about Unbridled Learning, K-PREP or Quality Core, contact Amanda Reed, assistant superintendent for student achievement, at 358-4111.
