LaRue County vendors collected $1,713,143 on lottery tickets in the last fiscal year, according to a Sept. 23 news release from the Kentucky Lottery,
They received $1,106,036 in prizes – a difference of $607,107 in what was wagered and what was claimed.
Players in the Lottery’s Jefferson sales region, which includes LaRue County, won nearly $166 million in the fiscal year, which ended June 30.
Statewide, $493.1 million was won by customers; $192.1 million was paid to the state.
The Lottery funded more than 117,000 college grants and scholarships. An additional $8.9 million went to the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship reserve fund.
Retailers received $50.1 million in commissions and incentives for selling the tickets.
